General Questions

1. What is Laundry101? Top
Laundry101 is located in Lexington, Kentucky and is a full service pick-up and drop-off laundry and dry cleaning business for people in Lexington.  To make our process easy on our customers, we have created designated drop-off and pick-up points for students on campus for you to bring your gear.  These points were specifically created as close to you as we can get, so your work is minimized.  Similarly, if you are a student or non-student that lives off-campus, your drop-off point is your front door!  Once you enroll with Laundry101, just bring your clothes to your drop-off point.  Come back 2 days later and your clothes will have been cleaned and will be waiting for you.

2. How Does the Bundled Laundry Service work? Top
The Bundled Laundry Service is used for all items that would typically go through the washer and dryer at home.  These items are washed, dried, and folded, even better than mom does it.  Depending on how much laundry you have, you can choose on a plan that fits your needs.  For students, Laundry101 currently offers the following options: pay by the pound, pay as you go, pay by the semester or pay by the year.  It’s up to you which plan you choose, but the Semester plan is the most popular. Similarly, for non-students, there are a variety of "pay by the pound" options, but the Full-Year plan is the most popular!  However, if you just want to be billed monthly for the amount you use, just select the "pay as you go" plan.

3. How do you keep my clothes from getting mixed up with other’s clothes? Top
Your clothes will be washed separately from anyone else's.  We never combine loads.  Since your clothes are never commingled with anyone else's laundry, the chances of a mix-up are extremely small.

4. Do I have to separate whites from darks?  What about delicates and speciality items? Top
No!  Once we pick up your clothes, we will separate your whites and darks so you don’t have to!  With regard to delicates and other special care items, we wash and dry according to the manufacturer’s label.  We do suggest that you identify if there is a new item in the load that could bleed or otherwise cause problems to your other clothes.  If that is the case, just put a note in your bag.  Similarly, if you have special preferences, such as hang drying jeans or sweaters, just leave a note on your bag tag.  Please note, however, that accidents can happen.  As such, Laundry101 cannot be held responsible if a "dry clean only" garment that is placed in the laundry bag is washed by accident.  If you have dry clean only garments, please put those items in your yellow dry cleaning bag.

With regard to speciality items, we have you covered.  As you can see from our pricing list, we are able to clean blankets, comfortors, duvets, etc.  Because these items are a bit different, cleaning them will not deduct from your pound balance.  Instead, these items will be billed separately (just like a dry cleaned item).  However, please note that down comfortors and other specialty items may take longer than 48 hours to return due to the drying time required for these items.

5. How does the Dry Cleaning Service work? What if I want dry cleaning but not the Bundled Laundry Service?
Top
The Dry Cleaning Service works just like the Bundled Laundry Service.  When you sign up with Laundry101 online, there is an option to select laundry, dry cleaning, or both.  Just let us know that you only want dry cleaning and we will only give you a yellow dry cleaning bag.

6. How does this whole deal work?  Where is the magic? Top
This “deal” begins with us meeting you to pick up your laundry and/or dry cleaning at your designated drop-off point within the specific timeframe.  Once we receive your gear, our Laundry101 representative scans and weighs your bags using our state of the art system.  We then take your laundry to our facility.  Once at our cleaning facility, the items are scanned again and immediately go through the professional laundering or dry cleaning process.  Once complete, all laundry items are nicely folded and placed back into Laundry101 bags and dry cleaning is placed onto hangers.  From our cleaning facility, all items are again scanned and then brought back to your designated location during the designated time period (about 48 hours later).  All items are tracked the entire time.

7. That sounds great!  But, which bundled laundry plan is best for me? Top
We have a whole list of different plans, but Laundry101’s most POPULAR student plan is the Semester Plan.  This plan provides each student with 15 pounds of laundry per week for an entire semester (16 weeks).  That’s 240 pounds of laundry!!  There is no schedule to use your 240 pounds, so if you happen to use more than 15 pounds one week, no big deal because we just deduct the weight of your laundry from your remaining poundage balance. Similarly, the most POPULAR non-student plan is the Full-Year Plan.  This plan provides you with 15 pounds of laundry for the full 52 week year.  That's 780 pounds of laundry!!

Each month, we will email you your poundage balance, so you always know where you stand.  If you get close to reaching your limit, we will contact you, so you know.  If you think 15 pounds a week is not enough, you are always welcome to purchase additional pounds anytime.  If you happen to exceed your purchased poundage and do not purchase additional pounds, that’s no big deal either.  We will just charge you as you bring in more clothes.  However, we recommend purchasing more pounds beforehand, because those pounds are discounted!

On the opposite side of the coin, if you happen to not use the service each week, we will only deduct the weight of the clothes you bring in each time you use the service.

8. That’s all great, but what if I have a small load?  Do I have to bring in 15 pounds? Top
Of course not!  You are more than welcome to bring in whatever amount of laundry you want.  However, due to the costs of washing and drying, if you drop off your laundry with us, we will have to charge you for a minimum of 10 pounds, even if your laundry actually weighs less.  With that said, if you are not sure how much laundry you have, you are more than welcome to ask a Laundry101 representative to weigh your bag and then determine whether to drop the bag off or just wait until you have more.

Also, please remember that dry cleaning is billed completely separately from the laundry service.  More specifically, dry cleaning is billed by the item (not by the pound), just like other dry cleaners.  The difference with our service is that provide the highest quality dry cleaning at the best price... oh and we deliver!

9. What happens if I am almost out of pounds and I want to buy more? Top
You can purchase more pounds at anytime in increments ranging from 50-500 pounds.  Laundry101 believes that the average person uses 15 pounds a week of laundry.  If you are getting close to running out of pounds we will let you know.  At that point, you will have the option of going online and buying more or paying as you go.  Regardless, you will never go over your pound limit without you knowing.
10. What happens if I am almost out of pounds and I don’t have any more money? Top
That’s okay too.  Just let us know when you sign up (in the "special instructions" text box) that after your balance is used up you want to stop service.  If you forget to tell us when you sign up, let us know before your plan is finished by emailing us at billing@laundry101.com.  Either way, we will make sure that you are not charged any more after your pounds are used.
11. What if I don't want the laundry service, but need blankets, quilts, rugs, etc. cleaned?  How do I do that?
Top
If you just want to use our service for specialty laundry, just sign up online and select "pay as you go."  We will send you a blue laundry bag for those items.  If you have questions regarding our specialty laundry prices, such as blankets, quilts, duvets, etc., just contact us through the website or via enroll@laundry101.com.

12. How is the Dry Cleaning billed? Top
The dry cleaning process is very simple.  The dry cleaning bag we give you will have a plastic identification tag and come with a Laundry101 card insert.  On the card insert, please list all of your information along with your dry cleaning and laundry specifications.  All items are billed on a “per piece” price according to your specifications.  At the end of each month, we will tally your monthly bill and run your credit card for payment.  If you do not use the Dry Cleaning Service you will not be billed for dry cleaning.
13. Can I prepay for Dry Cleaning?  Do I get a discount? Top
We are currently working on plans for the dry cleaning.  If this is something that interests you, let us know and we can tailor a plan just for you.
14. You said something about tracking my clothes.  How do you do this? Top
At the very beginning of your Laundry101 service you will be given two nylon bags.  The large bag is for laundry and the small bag is for dry cleaning.  Each bag will have a personal identification tag for you to put your information on.  Additionally, Laundry101 uses a bar code identifier that is placed on every bag.  Every time your bag is picked up or dropped off from any location, we scan the bags.  We will always know where you bags are in the process all the time.
15. What if I like to hang dry my jeans or prefer heavy starch on my shirts?  Can Laundry101 do that?
Top
Of course!  As you probably noticed, the Laundry101 sign up webpage includes a "special instructions" text box.  Just indicate your special instructions there.  The Laundry101 representative will make a note of this request and mark a card on your bag with these instructions.  Similarly, if you have delivery instructions (such as side door delivery), you can note it there.

If you have already signed up and did not indicate your special instructions at signup, feel free to manually mark a card on your bag with your special instructions.  We will implement your special instructions on the next delivery.

16. I have a missing button or my zipper broke.  Can Laundry101 fix that?
Top
Actually, we can!  Just pin a note to the spot that needs repair and put the garment in your YELLOW bag.  If you did not sign up for dry cleaning service, pin the note, but leave the garment outside the blue bag.  The Laundry101 Representative will take care of the rest.

17. I see your laundry and dry cleaning prices, are these all of the prices?  Are they subject to change?
Top
That is an excellent question.  These are not all of our prices, nor do the prices represent all of our services.  We can clean blankets, rugs, comforters, horse blankets, sheets, and many other items you would wash or dry clean.  We show only a portion of the prices online so that you can get an idea of what we charge for our most popular services.  If you have a specific pricing question that is not answered here, feel free to contact us at billing@laundry101.com.

Additionally, please note that our prices are subject to change without notice.  While we do our best to offer the most competitive prices with the highest quality of service, we cannot guarantee that our prices will remain static.  With that said, if you purchase one of our prepaid laundry plans, your pounds will not lose value, even if our prices increase.

18. What If I don't want to pay upfront?  Can I just pay monthly? Top
Of course!  If you would prefer to just receive monthly bills for your laundry service (like with dry cleaning), just choose the "pay as you go" plan.  This plan is a little more expensive, but it keeps you from having an upfront cost.  You can just use the service when you want and we will bill your credit card at the end of the month.
19. What types of payments does Laundry101 take? Top
Laundry101 takes all major credit cards, as well as UK Plus account payments.  We also accept personal checks, but need to have a credit card backup just in case you later decide to use additional services, such as the Laundry101 Dry Cleaning Service.   If you do choose to pay by check, just mail your check to:

Laundry101
c/o Billing Department
710 East Main Street
Lexington, Kentucky 40502

With that said, if you must pay by check, please contact a laundry101 representative at 859-967-WASH to sign up for service.  He will set up your account to facilitate this type of payment.

20. I see you accept online payments.  Is it safe?  What are my risks?
Top
Laundry101 does accept online payments and the risk to you is zero.  Our online payment system has an SSL certificate that makes your payment experience secure.  Additionally, our storage of your payment information is PCI compliant, which means that information is secure.  Even if our security measures are compromised, because we are PCI compliant, you will be fully reimbursed.

Additionally, Laundry101 does not like spam, so we will sell any of your information to third parties.

21. I received a gift certificate or won a promotion.  How do I get my credit?
Top
Throughout the year, Laundry101 issues gift certificates and runs promotions to give away free laundry and/or dry cleaning.  If you are the recipient of one of these, you will either receive physical gift card or an email indicating your new found fortune.  On that communication, there will be a promotion code.  If you are not currently a customer, simply enter your promotion code in the appropriate field of the online signup form and we will credit your account.

If you are currently a customer, your account should already be credited and will show up in your account by the next billing cycle.  However, if you want to be sure before the next billing cycle, just email us at billing@laundry101.com.

22. Okay, sign me up!  Do I pay now or later or what? Top
We have a “pay as you go plan” and the Dry Cleaning plan, which are paid as you use the service.  Once you sign up online, we will have your credit card on file, so we just run the card each month, depending on how much you use the service that month.  All other plans are prepaid, but the cool part about that is that you get a big discount on all prepaid plans.
23. What if I forget my drop-off day?  Do you have a reminder system so I don't forget?
Top
If you forget your drop-off day, you can either wait for your next drop-off day or call 859-976-WASH.  Our Laundry101 representative is probably still in your area, so he may be able to come back to get your bags.

If you would like to be reminded of your drop-off and pick-up days, just select the "text reminders" option and provide your mobile phone and carrier when you sign up.  If you have already signed up and forgot to do that, simply send your name, account number, mobile number, and mobile carrier to laundry101@laundry101.com and we will set you up for the following week.

24. I have signed up for service and now receive text reminder messages the day before my drop off day.  Do I need to do anything?
Top
No.  We send these messages to each customer.  If you have a drop off the next day we ask that you respond to the message with your name or address and whether you have a load or not.  However, if you forget, we will still drive by your house to make sure.  You will not miss service if you forget to respond to a text.

25. I love the Laundry101 service, but the text messages are getting to be a bit much.  Can I stop the texts or reduce the number?
Top
Of course you can!! Laundry101 provides the text reminders because most people forget when their Laundry101 days are.  However, if you don't need all the reminders, we are happy to shut them off or just send one per week.  All you have to do is respond to a text message we sent or email us at enroll@laundry101.com and let us know how you want your text messages handled.

26. I have a question or complaint.  Is there a real person that I can contact?
Top
Of course!  While one of the benefits of Laundry101 is the fact that you don't have to interact with layers of employees, we want you to know that customer service is a top priority.  If you ever have any questions, feel free to call/text (859)967-WASH.  This is a direct line to Jimmy Turek, one of the Laundry101 owners.  He can answer any question you might have.  If you prefer email, just send it to laundry101@laundry101.com or use the "Contact Us" portion of the website.

If you have a suggestion or complaint for Laundry101, please don't be shy to let us know.  While we feel we provide the highest quality service, it is possible that we make mistakes.  The only way for us to fix those mistakes and keep from repeating them is through feedback from our customers.  So, feel free to email laundry101@laundry101.com or text/call (859)967-WASH with your issue.  As most people have camera phones, any pictures you can send us that illustrate your issue is very helpful.

As a final note, if there is something that you think Laundry101 is doing well, please let us know that too.  Oftentimes, we don't know which services our customers prefer and can only learn through your feedback.

27. Thanks for all the answers!  Do you have any other information, entertainment, or content?
Top
Actually we do!  If you look at the top left of the website, you will see links to our Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube accounts.  All three are great sources for information and entertainment.  As an example, we will periodically provide funny or interesting videos about laundry or dry cleaning or even provide video answers to customer questions.  Most of this content is posted on Facebook, so be sure to like us.  The content that is not, will always be available via YouTube.

Residential Service

1. When does service start? Top
Once you have completed your Laundry101 Enrollment Form, a Laundry101 representative will bring drop off your bags during your next drop off day.  The bag will include information regarding how to use the service, your drop-off days, etc. At that point, just put your bags out on your front porch and service begins!  Also, please make sure your mobile number and carrier are correct when you register if you wish to receive reminder texts for the service.

2. This has to be expensive, right?  Can I afford Laundry101?
Top
Well, we can't answer that, but our dry cleaning prices are almost exactly the same as if you take your clothes to the cleaners yourself... Seriously!  We contract out our dry cleaning with Romany Road Cleaners, so we have the best dry cleaner at the best prices, without charging for delivery.  The bottom line is that it is basically the same as what you are currently spending.

With regard to laundry, our prices are actually less expensive than if you bring your clothes to a laundromat.  Plus, if you prepay for service, the service is even cheaper.  While many of our residential customers have washers and dryers, do you really want to spend your precious free time doing laundry?  The bottom line is that a heavy user of the laundry service spends about $50 per month, with the average customer being less.  Similarly, some people just like to use Laundry101 for towels and sheets.  That will further reduce the monthly expense.

3. I recently received one of your bags on my front door.  What do I do with it?
Top
If you intend to use the Laundry101 for dry cleaning, we have just made it easier for you to begin service.  Just sign up online and put your clothes out on the next drop-off day.

On the other side of the coin, if you do not want service, please send us an email at laundry101@laundry101.com and put your empty bag back on your door.  We will pick up the bag within 48 hours.

4. I live in an apartment building.  Can you provide service to me?
Top
Yes!  We are currently working with a number of apartment building managers to figure out the best, safest, and most convenient way to accommodate those tenants.  On the sign up form, there should be a drop down menu to identify an apartment complex.  If your building is not listed, please send us an email indicating your building and that you want service.  The demand for Laundry101 is high in apartments, so we just need to know who wants service now.

5. Once I sign up, how do I get my bags? Top
Once you have completed online registration, we will bring your bags to your house on the next drop-off day.  If you have clothes at that time, just leave them out for us and we will put them in a Laundry101 bag to begin service immediately.

6. What happens if the Laundry101 driver does not see my bag sitting out?  Also, what if I have an emergency dry cleaning issue that needs immediate attention?
Top
The Laundry101 representative should never miss your bag, but on the off the off chance that he does, feel free to call 859-967-WASH. This is the direct mobile number of the Laundry101 representative.  If he missed something, he will come back ASAP to pick it up.  Similarly, if you have a laundry or dry cleaning emergency, feel free to call the number to request special service.

Also, if you are afraid that Laundry101 might miss your bag, just respond to our reminder text message with your name (or address) and that you have a pickup.  Once Laundry101 receives a response text, we make sure we do not leave your house without a bag.

Campus Service

1. When does service start?
Top
Once you have completed the online registration form, just show up at your designated drop off point at the designated time and receive your bags.  If you bring your dirty clothes, you can begin service immediately.  If not, just bring your clothes back on the next drop off day.

2. I’m not sure.  This has to be expensive, right?
Top
Actually, it really is not expensive at all.  Think about this: if the washers and dryers on campus charge $2.00 each, then you are spending $8.00 to wash and dry two loads of laundry, plus about $0.50 for detergent and about $0.50 for fabric softener.  That’s about $9.00 you are already spending.  With Laundry101’s partnership with Chevy Chase Coin Laundry, we have been able to reduce your costs.  Now, a semester plan only costs $210!!  Over 16 weeks, that is only $13 per week.  So the actual cost to you is only $4.00 per week!!  That’s $4.00 to have your laundry done better than you could do it.  Plus, you never have to worry about another student throwing your wet or dry clothes onto the floor if you can’t get down to the laundry room fast enough.
3. And I guess the two semester plan is cheaper? Top
Of course!  The two semester plan only costs $400!!  That’s $12.50 per week, with an actual cost to you of $3.50!!  The full year plan is even cheaper at $12.00 per week, with an actual cost of $3.00!!
4. I live in a fraternity or sorority house and I haven't seen Laundry101 delivering there.  Can I make my house a drop-off point?
Top
Absolutely!  Chances are we have already identified your house as a drop-off point.  If we haven't, just send an email to enroll@laundry101.com and we will get you set up.  If you are not sure, click "Pick Up and Drop Off Locations" under the Campus Pricing page.  A map will display Laundry101's current drop-off locations.

5. Once I sign up, how do I get my bags?
Top
Once you complete the online registration form and select your drop-off point, simply come to the drop-off point at your designated time.  Tell the Laundry101 representative your name (and/or account number) and he can provide you with a bag.  If you have clothes to clean immediatly, bring them with you and the Laundry101 representative can put them in a Laundry101 bag to get service started.

6. How do I know which drop-off point is best for me? Top
Under our "Campus Pricing" page you find a map of campus with all pick up and drop off locations.  Please refer to that map for your designated time of pick up and drop off.  Just choose the spot you feel is most convenient.  Once you decide to sign up, you can choose one of those drop-off points for your service.

7. What happens if I miss my pick-up or drop-off? Top
Again, this is no problem!  Just come by at your next pick up time or give us a call to arrange something else.  Again, we are trying to make this easy on you!  Also, we will send you a text message the day before your drop-off or pick-up day, so you don't forget.  If you wish to not receive these reminder messages, just respond to the text with "UNSUBSCRIBE" or send an email to laundry101@laundry101.com with the subject line "Text UNSUBSCRIBE."
8. What if I am interested in a scholarship or work related opportunities or have questions or suggestions.  How do I contact Laundry101? Top
Please contact us through our office at 859-629-6109.  We are always willing to help the students and fill all needs in any way that we can.  Just let us know.
9. I am a University of Kentucky Student and would like to sign up for service.  I live in the Blanding/Kirwan area.  Where exactly is that drop-off point?
Top
Right now, the Blanding/Kirwan drop-off point is in the Fraternity parking lot.  Just look for the Laundry101 van and Representative.  If you have trouble locating him, feel free to call the 859-967-WASH.  That his the Laundry101 Representative's mobile number.

10. I am a parent of a college student.  I would like to pay for their service.  How do I do that?
Top
There are a number of ways you can pay for someone else's service.  The most common way is to simply create an account for them and use your payment information.  You can purchase one of our prepaid plans and request that you not be billed after the plan has expired.  Your child can log into the account to view pound balances, but cannot access the payment information.

A second option is to purchase a gift certificate.  Gift certificates may not yet be purchased online, but can be redeemed online, so your child can create their own account, but use the gift certificate that was purchased for them. If you would like to purchase a gift card, just email us at enroll@laundry101.com or call (859)629-6109 and ask for Joe.

11. I live on campus.  Does Laundry101 deliver during Christmas break and over the summer?
Top
Good question.  If you signed up for the semester plan (or two-semester plan), your pounds were calculated based on the school year only.  As such, Laundry101 will not deliver to the campus drop-off points during those times, unless a customer explicitly requests us to.  Similarly, if you are living somewhere else during those times, but still want service, please contact us to let us know where you are.  The Laundry101 email address for such issues is enroll@laundry101.com.

Commercial and Professional Service

1. Multiple people in my office want the Laundry101 service.  Do you deliver to offices?
Top
Laundry101 is currently delivering to a number of offices and will be happy to include you office for our service.  If you are an individual that wants service to your office, simply sign up online and designate your office address as your delivery point.  If you are an office administrator and would like Laundry101 to provide service to multiple people in your office, just contact us at (859)967-WASH and ask for Jimmy Turek.  Jimmy is one of our Laundry101 owners and can coordinate the delivery logistics with you.
